The financial website TheStreet.com ranked states on four criteria: Production, consumption, breweries and breweries per capita.
As it turns out, Californians are slackers when it comes to drinking beer, ranking in the bottom seven nationwide.
But California earned the top spot by having more breweries and producing more beer than any other state: 22 million barrels last year alone.
