The FBI is stepping up its search for the "Mr. Magoo Bandit," who has been linked to 12 armed bank robberies up and down California.

Agents in Ventura, Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco are participating in the manhunt.

His two most recent robberies were in Camarillo and Thousand Oaks. He's also suspected of robbing six banks in San Diego and four in San Francisco.

The suspect has made no attempt to disguise himself and has been said to thank tellers before leisurely strolling out and getting away.

The man is described as a white male in his 40s, about 200 pounds, medium build. He has short dirty blond hair, balding and wears prescription glasses. He earned his moniker because he resembles the 1960s cartoon character.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the FBI at (888) CANT-HIDE or call 911.
