Women who give birth to four or more children may have a slightly lower risk of dying from heart disease later in life.

Researchers followed middle-aged, middle-class women for two decades.

They found that those who had four children or more were significantly less likely to die from heart disease than women who had not delivered children.

They found the risk of dying from a stroke also decreased slightly.
