People at Fiesta Parade Floats in Irwindale were putting on their finishing touches on the Natural Balance pet food float on Monday. When completed, the float will feature a surfing dog.
Kaiser Permanente, Dole and Paramount Pictures were also building floats; 11 floats in all are being built at the site.
Some significant anniversaries are also going to be celebrated this year; Paramount as well as the city of Torrance will be celebrating its 100th anniversary.
Everything is expected to be ready as scheduled for next Monday's parade.
"We don't have any grace period for this event," said Jim Hynd from Fiesta Parade Floats. "Tomorrow the decorators will come in here in full force. We will have over 1,200 people in here at one time. And every one of these floats has two to three supervisors that are very well versed on what has to be done, their schedules are very strict. And it will all happen; it will all come about."
Once the parade is finished, most of the materials will be recycled for next year's parade. And believe it or not, brainstorming is already under way for the 2013 Rose Parade.
