'Phantom' celebrates 10,000th Broadway show

NEW YORK

The New York Times reported that 2011 was the show's highest-earning year.

The Times also said "Phantom" made a record $1.5 million in its best week last December. In its 25-year run, the show has earned $845 million.

The Andrew Lloyd Webber musical opened on Broadway on Jan. 26, 1988. It is an adaptation of the French novel by Gaston Leroux.

The 10,000th performance celebration included a giant cake and a special curtain call.
