Torrance kicks off 1st cherry tree festival

TORRANCE, Calif.

The festival is new to the community and is intended to celebrate the Asian culture. The park is filled with more than one hundred cherry trees planted several years ago, and two more were planted Sunday.

Torrance hopes to turn the free festival into an annual event to celebrate the coming of spring. It is one of the first events planned for the city's centennial celebration this year.
