Chatsworth man allegedly killed dad with hammer

Sun Chang, 78, died after being hit in the head with a hammer on Sunday, March 18, 2012, according to police.

A 45-year-old Chatsworth man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly killing his 78-year-old father with a hammer.

Authorities responded to a home in the 21300 block of Candice Place at about noon. Police say Jun Chang admitted to officers that he killed his father, identified as Sun Chang.

Sun Chang was declared dead at the scene. A coroner said he suffered head trauma after being hit in the head with a hammer. His son was taken into custody without further incident.

Jun Chang is being held without bail at the Van Nuys jail on suspicion of murder. A motive has not yet been released.
