2 decomposed bodies found in South Los Angeles home

SOUTH LOS ANGELES

Officers found their decomposing bodies inside an apartment on West 81st Street between Vermont Avenue and Hoover Street.

Neighbors noticed a foul odor around 3 p.m. Monday and called police. Investigators said the women were both in their 30s but they haven't been identified. Investigators worked through the night and removed the bodies Tuesday morning.

It was not immediately known how the women died or how long their bodies were inside the apartment.

One neighbor said the woman who lived inside the apartment kept to herself and had a turbulent relationship with her boyfriend.

"It was a lady, her son, and she always used to get beat up by her boyfriend," said Terry Williams. "The neighbors were curious. Actually, the neighbors were the ones who called the police to come in, because we were smelling it, but we didn't know exactly what the smell was."

It was unknown if the police responded to any domestic violence calls at the residence in the past. More details about the deaths were expected to be revealed pending autopsies.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the Los Angeles Police Department's 77th Street station at (213) 485-4164.
