According to the National Weather Service, the first storm will sweep across in the evening, producing light to moderate rainfall and gusty southerly winds. Snow levels will remain above 7,500 feet, which will limit any snowfall to the highest peaks.
On Wednesday, the metro Los Angeles and Orange County areas were expected to get .10 to .20 inches of rain, while the valleys and Inland Empire were expected to receive up to 1/3 of an inch of rain. Forecasters said there was a 35 percent chance of rain Thursday for these areas.

The mountains were expected to get strong winds and rain through Thursday morning. The high desert should receive rain through the night and have a 20 percent chance of showers in the morning as well.
The NWS issued a high-surf advisory that begins at 6 a.m. Thursday through 10 p.m. Saturday.
The wet weather is expected to continue through the weekend, the NWS said. A second, weaker, cold front will move across the Southland on Friday. On Sunday, the third front will sweep across the area and could be similar in intensity to the cold frontal passage seen Wednesday.
