Jaime Olivares, 26, and suspect Tyler Stepner, 28, were involved in a fight in the 100 block of South Chestnut Street at 1:30 a.m. Police say Stepner fled on foot but was chased down by a witness to California Street.
Olivares was transported to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment. His injuries were said to be non life-threatening.
Stepner had minor injuries consistent with being involved in a fight, and a knife was found nearby. He was treated for his injuries before he was booked in the Ventura County Main Jail on assault with a deadly weapon charges.
