Authorities say the investigation began after officers found 23-year-old Lauren Matheney with a minor in a parked vehicle near Keller and Menifee roads on Jan. 21. Officers learned that Matheney was a JV basketball coach at Paloma Valley High School.
According to police, it became apparent that the relationship between Matheney and the minor was inappropriate and criminal in nature.
Matheney was arrested on Wednesday for oral copulation with a minor and annoying or molesting a minor. She was released after posting a $25,000 bond.
