NEW YORK (KABC) -- A Yankees fan was ejected from Game 4 of the World Series in New York after he ripped the ball out of the glove of Dodgers right fielder Mookie Betts.
The play happened in the bottom of the first inning when Gleyber Torres hit a foul ball down the right field line. Betts leaped to catch the ball against the wall when a fan in a gray Yankees jersey grabbed Betts' glove and didn't let go until he pulled the ball out.
Another fan also grabbed Betts' right hand and wrist as the ball was being knocked away.
Fan interference was called and the batter was ruled out. The fans involved in the interference were ejected from the game.
The Yankees would go on to beat the Dodgers 11-4 to force a Game 5.
Betts addressed the incident following the game.
"When it comes to the person in play, it doesn't matter," Betts said. "We lost. It's irrelevant. I'm fine. He's fine. Everything's cool. We lost the game and that's what I'm kind of focused on. We got to turn the page and get ready for tomorrow."
ESPN identified the fan who grabbed Betts' glove as Austin Capobianco, a Yankees season-ticket holder. His friend, John Peter, grabbed Betts' hand.
"We always joke about the ball in our area," Capobianco told ESPN. "We're not going to go out of our way to attack. If it's in our area, we're going to 'D' up."
Capobianco and Peter said they would be allowed back for Game 5. The Yankees didn't immediately respond to ESPN's request for comment to confirm if they would be allowed back.
