SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KABC) -- A homeless man died after he was possibly stabbed and mauled by a group of dogs at a park in San Bernardino, police said.
Paramedics and officers responded around 5:20 p.m. Sunday to Perris Hill Park, according to the San Bernardino Police Department.
Upon arrival, the victim was found with suspected stab wounds and dog bite injuries. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
"While the victim was being treated by medical personnel, he had what is suspected to be a potential stab wound, but again we're not 100% sure about that," San Bernardino police Capt. Nelson Carrington said. "We won't get that information until the coroner's investigation is completed."
A total of 11 dogs at the location were impounded by San Bernardino Animal Control. Investigators are trying to find the owner, who is also believed to be homeless, to get more information.
An autopsy will determine the victim's cause of death.
Police are trying to find anyone who may have witnessed what happened. At this point, a person of interest has not been identified.
"There are several homeless encampments that are at Perris Hill Park, so there's lots of individuals that we're attempting to reach out to, to try to find as many witnesses to the incident as possible," Carrington said.
