Police say the two suspects had no relationship with the two victims. The two victims were a high school couple who were killed in an underground bunker just outside of Barstow.
San Bernardino Sheriff's Deputies say 18-year-old Collin McGlaughlin is one of the suspects. The images and quotes posted on McGlaughlin's MySpace page paint a very disturbing picture.
One quote read: "I entered this world screaming and covered in someone else's blood and that's how I intend to leave it."
Another quote is: "I feel that if a person really needs it they should be able to walk down the street with a .357 killing people at random."
McGlaughlin, along with 19-year-old David Smith of Covina, is accused of killing 18-year-old Christopher Cody Thompson and 16-year-old Bodhisattva Sherzer-Potter execution-style.
"Well, I don't really know what they were thinking at the time, or what they're thinking about now," said Cindy Beavers of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. "What I do know is that two young people were killed for no apparent reason. They were good people. They were good, young people. And nobody deserves to go through what they went through."
The bodies were found outside Barstow deep inside an underground bunker. Apparently, a large group of kids were hanging out up there a few weeks ago. The next day when the victims were missing, someone came back and found the bodies inside.
Police say that right now, it looks like the motive was robbery.
"The victims were taken inside the bunker and they were both executed. There was no sign of any struggle, or any resistance whatsoever," said Beavers.
For the past two weeks, families have mourned the loss of the two victims. Family members who spoke with Eyewitness News say this is one reason these underground bunkers should be locked up for good.
"We're doing a petition on Saturday, Sunday and on Monday over here by the post office," said Leah Sherzer, the mother of the 16-year-old victim. "We're having people sign, and send it into the government requesting they shut it down, and there are 18 others here in the high desert that need to be shut down."
The family is making a push to shut down all of the underground bunkers.
As for the two suspects, they are expected to be arraigned in court next Tuesday.
