Cerritos man claimed to have shot child; police standoff ensued
CERRITOS The standoff at a home on Ibex Avenue near Artesia Boulevard in Cerritos ended, says Sgt. Barry Hall of the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department's Cerritos Station.

No one was injured inside the home and a man has been taken into custody for reporting a false emergency, Hall says. He says the man is no longer suspected of having killed anyone or kidnapping children.

The man had called 911 around 10:30 p.m. and told deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department's Cerritos Station that he had shot one of two kidnapped children, and was threatening to the shoot the second, it was reported.

Deputies from the Cerritos Station along with other nearby law enforcement stations had surrounding the home in the 17100 block of Ibex Avenue near Artesia Boulevard, according to broadcast reports.
