Britain's military says three soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan. The soldiers were killed by a suicide bomber while on foot patrol less than a mile from their base in Afghanistan's Upper Sangin Valley.

A fourth soldier was wounded in the attack Sunday.

The head of Britain's armed forces, Air Chief Marshal Sir Jock Stirrup, and Defense Secretary Des Browne released a joint statement expressing their pride in the military's fight against Taliban rebels in the region.
