Heart disease death rates down sharply

December 15, 2008 12:00:00 AM PST
The number of people dying from heart disease and stroke is on its way down, according to researchers. Thirty percent since 1999.These numbers mean the American Heart Association has met it's 2010 goal of a 25 percent drop a year early.

While this may sound reassuring, experts say heart disease still accounted for about 1 out of every 3 deaths in the U.S. in 2006.

Also, obesity levels remain high and too few Americans meet recommended guidelines for physical activity.
