No suspects in murder of Torrance woman

REDONDO BEACH, Calif. Cori Daye Desmond was last seen Saturday night at the Bac Street Lounge in Redondo Beach.

A motorist discovered her body more than 70 miles away, just off Highway 330 near Running Springs on Monday. Detectives say a driver who had stopped to remove his tire chains found the body of a woman wrapped in a bag near mile-marker 38 at the 5,000-foot level.

Desmond, who used to work at the lounge, was there visiting friends. Investigators say she had an argument with a patron, but when she left, everything appeared to be OK.

Her father notified authorities on Tuesday that her 1998 Jeep Wrangler was still parked near the lounge.

"She was a college graduate. She was beautiful. She was my life. She will be missed," said Mark Desmond, the victim's father.

Police say there was blunt force trauma to the body, but are not disclosing the cause of death. There are no suspects or persons of interest.

Anyone with information is urged to call San Bernardino County Sheriff's at (800) 78-CRIME.
