Woman rescued after fire hydrant crash

LOS ANGELES The trouble began with a car crash at Broadway and Adams just before 1 a.m. One of the cars slammed into a fire hydrant, sending a plume of water high into the air.

A witness tried to free the woman, whose car was stuck under the cascading water. The car door was stuck, and he couldn't get her out. Firefighters got soaked as they worked to free her.

Crews had to shut the water off so rescuers could get to the victim. They used the Jaws of Life to cut away part of the car to free her.

Four people were taken to the hospital following the accident, but they're expected to be OK.
