Inland Empire job fair draws thousands

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. Nearly 4,000 people showed up for a /*job fair*/ in the Inland Empire Wednesday morning. /*Congressman David Dreier*/ hosted the "Road to Employment" event in Rancho Cucamonga in partnership with several state and local government agencies.

More than 60 employers, in fields ranging from health services to sales to information technology and more, sent representatives to the fair. In all, the companies and government agencies at the event are looking to fill more than 3,000 openings.

With the Inland Empire having one of worst /*unemployment rates*/ in the nation, many people had to go above and beyond to stand out of the crowd. Some said they're even willing to switch their career.

"I've been unemployed for almost a year now," said Alai Harris of San Bernardino who attended the fair. "I'm hoping that I find something to just start and get my foot in the door."

"Also, we should note that there are 15,000 jobs available at this moment in San Bernardino County -- retail, defense contractor, obviously a lot of government entities," said Congressman Dreier.

County officials say they hold this job fair every year and this has been their largest turn out ever.

Employers in attendance Wednesday included: AGI Technologies
Aardvark Tactical Inc.
Aloette Cosmetics
Arrowhead Regional Medical Center
Coca-Cola Enterprises
CPS Security
Fedex Ground
Four Points by Sheraton (Ontario)
Gentex Corp
Internal Revenue Service
