100-acre brush fire burns near Temecula

TEMECULA, Calif. Businesses in the area near Rancho California Road and Avenida Del Oro were evacuated earlier Wednesday. A few homes were reportedly threatened by the fire, but firefighters saved those residences.

The fire was burning about a mile west of Interstate 15. The fire was reported moving east at a moderate rate toward Temecula. The general direction is toward Winchester Road.

Winds in the area were blowing at about 15 miles per hour. The fire was at 40 percent containment at 10:20 p.m.

No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire has not been determined. The fire started about 2:30 p.m., according to Riverside County Fire Dept. Spokesperson Jody Hagemann.
