Ronald Reagan Library to be annexed?

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. While many Southlanders consider the /*Ronald Reagan Presidential Library*/ to be in Simi Valley, it actually is outside the city borders and is in an unincorporated area of the Tierra Rejada Valley Greenbelt and under the jurisdiction of Ventura County.

Annexation would have to be approved by the Ventura County Local Agency Formation Commission.

Annexation of 230 acres would give the city of Simi Valley more control over the area. Simi Valley already provides services to the area, including sewer service. The area includes the library, four homes on 10-acre parcels and two additional lots that have been prepared for home construction.

Simi Valley says the only noticeable change would be police response since the Sheriff's Department currently provides service. With annexation, the Simi Valley Police Department would take over law enforcement for the area.

The Neighborhood Council No.1 takes up the issue 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the community room of Simi Valley City Hall located at 2929 Tapo Canyon Rd. The meeting is open to the public.
