Ground tested for Santa Monica subway line

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. The project would link downtown Los Angeles to Santa Monica.

The drilling in Beverly Hills is designed to look into ground conditions for the environmental impact report. Soil samples are also scheduled to be collected later this week in Hollywood and other locations.

It's still unclear if there is enough money to build the subway line, if it is approved.

The /*MTA*/ has said it could take more than 20 years to complete the project.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
