Man with meat cleavers shot by deputies

ROSEMEAD, Calif. The incident was the second deputy-involved shooting on Saturday.

The shooting occurred in the 9200 block of Ramona Boulevard in Rosemead.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says a man broke into a home and came out carrying two large meat cleavers. Officials say he had one cleaver in each hand and they believe he made a threatening statement and then came at deputies. Fearing for their safety, the deputies fired.

The man was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The Sheriff's Department says he was drinking heavily.
