Car crashes into downtown L.A. building

LOS ANGELES The LAPD says someone ran a red light at Seventh and Flower Streets, but eyewitness accounts are conflicting.

A white car was traveling southbound on Flower Street when it collided with a red minivan traveling westbound on 7th Street.

The impact sent the car into the Wokcano Restaurant.

The driver of the car exited his vehicle without help, but the driver of the minivan had to be placed on a stretcher by paramedics.

Both were taken to a hospital.

No one inside the restaurant was injured.

It's the second time in less than four months that the building at 818 W. 7th has been struck by a vehicle.

In late May, a station wagon struck the Bank of America branch in the same building at 7th and Figueroa.

Friday's crash closed down the streets for a couple of hours.

Damage to the restaurant was limited to the front entry, and Wokcano was open in time for lunch.
