The 24-year-old driver kept going, and eventually let two adults and a child out of the car.
The man then stopped and forced himself into an apartment unit near Figueroa Street and Avenue 47. Officers said a woman and child were inside the unit, and the suspect refused to let them go.
The man eventually surrendered to police at around 11 p.m. No one was hurt.
The suspect could face felony evading and false imprisonment charges, police said.
