Lack of sleep causes lapse in snap decisions

People who don't get enough sleep may end up putting themselves and others at risk if they need to make split-second decisions.Researchers at the University of Texas at Austin examined the effect of sleep deprivation on military cadets.

The study found that even moderate sleep deprivation can cause an overall immediate lapse in the thought processes required to make instantaneous, gut-feeling decisions.
