REVIEW: 'Twilight Saga: New Moon'

Rated: PG-13 (Some violence and action)
For those unfamiliar with the source material, this sequel to "Twilight" sees Edward Cullen and his family abandon the town of Forks, Washington in an effort to protect Bella from the dangers inherent in their world.

Bella's frozen heart is gradually thawed by her budding relationship with Jacob Black, who has a supernatural secret of his own and is a member of the mysterious Quileute tribe.

When a chance encounter brings Bella face to face with a former nemesis, only the intervention of a pack of supernaturally-large wolves saves her from a grisly fate. The encounter makes it frighteningly clear that Bella is still in grave danger.

I have not read any of the "Twilight" books and I'm certainly not part of the crowd that MUST see Edward & Jacob in this latest edition of the series. I was, however, intrigued enough to want to see it.

In my review of the first installment, I noted about my disappointment that it was more a love story than a vampire movie. That was due in part to trailers that promised things that the movie didn't deliver. For this episode, I was more prepared and knew what "Twilight" is really about, and went into the theatre anticipating a gripping love story using vampires and werewolves as a twist.

I am all for a good love story but it isn't my first choice.

"The Twilight Saga: New Moon" didn't impress me with its direction and story, but I do consider it a decent date/teen movie.

If you liked the first movie, you'll likely enjoy this one a little more.

Rated: PG-13 (Some violence and action)

3 buckets.
