Grinch takes over the Pantages Theatre

Hollywood Wrap with George Pennacchio
LOS ANGELES Christmas has come early to Southern California thanks to the musical version of the classic book-turned-cartoon "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."

Emmy winning actor John Larroquette stars as Max, the Grinch's faithful hound, who narrates the tale.

"This is sort of out of my comfort zone as an actor which is nice," said Larroquette. "I had this slot open for another play, now I get to spend Christmas in town, at home, which is unusual for an actor. I get to be with all these wonderful people, and Stefan, who is wonderful as the Grinch. I'm happy to be here."

Stefan is actor, Stefan Karl, who plays the menacing Grinch.

Larroquette loves playing before a live audience saying the all-age crowd adds an element that is irreplaceable.

"I prefer it. They help the timing, you feed off of. With this show the kids are gonna go crazy, it'll be fun on stage with them," said Larroquette.

Actor James Royce Edwards plays Max in his more energetic, younger dog years.

"The best thing in the world is the kids. I'll crawl through the aisle and they want to touch you. Their faces light up and they'll yell things at the stage," said Edwards.

"How the Grinch Stole Christmas" plays at the Pantages Theatre through January 3.
