Suspected gang member shot by Maywood police

MAYWOOD, Calif. /*Maywood police*/ say it all started when several people flagged down officers. They told the officers that a man had shot at them and at several vehicles.

Officers chased the suspect on foot and when they caught up with him at East 55th Street and Pine Avenue, there was a confrontation, and he was shot.

The unidentified man, described only as a Hispanic male adult, was taken to St. Francis Hospital. His condition is not known. No officers were injured.

Detectives from the /*Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department*/ will be investigating the /*officer-involved shooting*/ along with Maywood police.
