Motorcyclist run over after 5 Freeway crash

NORWALK, Calif. CHP Officer Al Perez says the cyclist was traveling northbound when he crashed and was ejected onto southbound lanes at 4:25 a.m. just north of Pioneer Boulevard. He was run over by at least three vehicles.

Perez says the male victim had been traveling with a group of cyclists but he sped away from them and crashed, his bike tumbling end over end.

The victim was declared dead at the scene. The name of the victim has not been released.

The CHP says a second crash occurred in clogged southbound lanes around 5:20 a.m. when a big rig rear-ended a stopped passenger car.

Tte freeway reopened at about 7:30 a.m.
