Man shot near Hollywood Pollo Loco restaurant

HOLLYWOOD The driver of a maroon-colored 4-door sedan was shot near the intesection of Santa Monica and Van Ness. The car crashed into a lamppost on Santa Monica about a block east of Van Ness near St. Andrews Place in front of an El Pollo Loco restaurant. The impact bent the lamppost over the sidewalk.

At least one suspect fled the area.

The victim was transported to a hospital. Police did not release the condition of the victim.

Two officers were injured in a multi-vehicle traffic accident nearby en route to the scene of the shooting. They were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The collision and the shooting closed Santa Monica Boulevard between Western and Van Ness avenues while police investigated the scene. Eastbound lanes on Santa Monica were closed between Western and Wilton Pl.

Police were searching for a suspect vehicle described as a 4-door gray or dark-colored Kia sedan.

An eyewitness said the shooter was a male on foot. The eyewitness also said there were two to three females in the car with the driver, who was described as a male about 20 years old.

The eyewitness said the suspect was on foot and shot the victim, then ran away.
