Mayor Villaraigosa breaks elbow in bike crash

MID-CITY, Calif. At approximately 6:50 p.m., /*Villaraigosa*/ was riding in the bicycle lane on Venice Boulevard when a taxi cab abruptly pulled out in front of him between Hervey and Hargis streets.

officials said the mayor hit his brakes to avoid colliding with the taxi cab and fell from his bicycle.

He was taken to /*UCLA Medical Center*/ where he was treated for a broken right elbow, officials said. He has been released from the hospital and is resting at the /*Getty House*/, officials said.
