Unidentified woman found dead in Apple Valley

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. The body of a young woman was found Wednesday, August 25, in a remote area west of Interstate 15 near Dale Evans Parkway.

No word on how she was killed.

San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department investigators are giving out very few details.

They describe the victim as African-American, 20 to 30 years of age, heavy set, shoulder-length black and light brown hair (weave), acrylic nails with white tips, pink polish on her toes, wearing red sweat pants with a white stripe down the outside of both legs, and a gray T-shirt.

Investigators say they received a call from a man collecting brass in the desert.

He told them he had located a body.

Deputies from the Victor Valley Station responded and confirmed that it was human remains and requested sheriff's homicide investigators.

The preliminary investigation indicates the victim may have died elsewhere and was brought to the location.

An autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.

Anyone with information is asked to call San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department investigators at (909) 387-3589.
