Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton announced those charges at a news conference this morning.
Abuelazam is being held without bond a the Genesee County Jail. He now faces six charges in all, including the open murder count.
That murder victim is Arnold Minor who was stabbed twice early the morning of August 2.
Leyton said today that Minor's blood was found in that green Chevy Blazer investigators believe Abuelazam was driving. Police have surveillance video from a party store in the area showing that SUV passing by right around the time of Minor's murder.
He spoke directly to Minor's family this morning. The family declined to comment.
Those four other charges announced this morning are all assault with intent to commit murder.
Bill Fisher, 42, reportedly is the first surviving victim. He was stabbed June 26 in the 1900 Block of West Pierson in Flint. Richard Booker, 49, was stabbed July 19 near North Saginaw and Juliah in Genesee Township. Davon Rawls, 19, was stabbed July 28 at Leith and Cook in Flint. Etwan Wilason, 17, was stabbed August 1 near Cloverlawn and Basil in Flint.
Abuelazam was arraigned by video this afternoon. He was silent except for answering "yes sir" when Judge Nathaniel Perry asked him questions.
"My goal remains the same as it was when I last saw you, and that is we will convict him. We will lock him up for the rest of his life. His victims deserve nothing less," Leyton said.
Abuelazam is suspected in 14 Mid-Michigan attacks dating back to late May.
Leyton said he wants to be clear on how he will handle the case. "There's not going to be any deals in this case. This case is going to trial."
Abuelazam is being held without bond in the Genesee County Jail and faces life in prison without parole if convicted.
