Brush fire breaks out in South Pasadena

SOUTH PASADENA, Calif. The fire was reported about 9 p.m. in the area north of Pasadena and began burning uphill. It was contained after about a half hour. Firefighters, however, were concerned about flare-ups from hot spots.

Although the fire was quickly knocked down, some fire crews remained at the scene in case it flares up again.

County and city fire departments assisted South Pasadena firefighters.

According to investigators, witnesses said they saw sparks coming from power lines, and they believe that's what may have sparked the fire.
