Go green with National Costume Swap Day

LOS ANGELES According to a group called, Green Halloween, if half the children in the U.S. who celebrate Halloween swapped costumes instead of buying new ones, the nation's annual landfill waste would be reduced by 6,250 tons.

That amounts to the weight of approximately 2,500 mid-size cars.

Green Halloween organizers encourage people to gather with their neighbors to hold small costume-swapping events or even create large city-wide events for recycling costumes.
