Carnival Splendor hurts biz for LB port

LONG BEACH, Calif. The cancellation of several voyages means the loss of millions of dollars for the community.

For taxi cab drivers in the area, the ship's regular cruises in and out of the port meant a steady stream of fares. Every Sunday morning the cruise ship would return with more than 3000 passengers, most needing a ride home or to a nearby hotel.

With the Splendor out of service until next January, it will mean a significant loss of monthly income..
