4 inmate firefighters in critical after crash

Four inmate firefighters remain in critical condition on Wednesday following a head-on crash on Highway 138 near Gorman that killed two people.Other than the four critical victims, eight others were also wounded, according to the L.A. County Fire Dept.

A Subaru collided with a fire truck carrying an inmate fire crew from the L.A. County Fire Department at about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The fire department truck reportedly rolled several times before coming to a rest, according to investigators, and crew members in the truck were thrown from the vehicle.

The victims include the 83-year-old driver of the Subaru, identified as Milton Bacon of Nevada. Fernando Sanchez, a prison inmate, was also killed.
