California's red-legged frogs have a new place to stretch their legs. The threatened species is set to get a 48-acre preserve near Foresthill in Placer County.

It comes complete with plenty of ponds and woodlands for the frogs to enjoy.

The site will be preserved through an agreement between two conservation groups.

The red-legged frog has been threatened since 1996.

That's about 100 years after Mark Twain wrote about the species in the book, "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County."
