The blizzard along the East Coast that is stranding thousands of travelers has also brought lightning. Footage of lightning was captured by a dashboard camera in New York City.
The rare combination of snow and thunder and lightning is called "thundersnow."
Officials have urged anyone who does not have to drive to stay off the roads.
