Hundreds may've been exposed to Hepatitis C

January 12, 2011 12:00:00 AM PST
Hundreds of people may have been exposed to Hepatitis C. A 76-year-old Torrance woman died from complications of Hepatitis C last May. Her family reported her death to county health officials on Tuesday.

She was one of hundreds of patients told that the Advanced Pain Treatment Center in San Pedro accidentally used contaminated needles to sedate patients.

County health officials sent letters to those patients telling them to be tested because they may have been exposed to Hepatitis B, C or less likely, the virus that causes AIDS.

Public health officials have not responded publicly regarding the woman's case.
