Actress Zsa Zsa Gabor had surgery at a Los Angeles hospital Friday morning to have her right leg amputated. Doctors at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center said the operation to remove much of Gabor's right leg was successful.

The 93-year-old actress injured the leg about two months ago in a fall, and it soon became infected. Her husband, Prince von Anhalt, said gangrene set into her limb.

In July, Gabor fell out of bed and broke her hip. She underwent hip replacement surgery and was sent home about a month later. She has been hospitalized several times ever since her surgery.

Gabor had a priest read her last rites in August.
