Researchers try to unlock bedbug DNA

LOS ANGELES

Researchers at the University of Ohio are mapping the bedbugs' DNA. The number of infestations has skyrocketed in the U.S. over the past decade.

Scientists believe that's because the insects have adapted to pesticides, making them harder to kill.

The goal is to pinpoint and then manipulate specific genes to make it easier to get rid of the blood-sucking pests.
