Oscar race for foreign-language films narrows

The Oscar race is narrowing down for foreign-language films. A committee from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences narrowed the 66 qualifying films down to nine. Then five of them will earn Oscar nominations.

The films include: Algeria's "Hors la Loi" ("Outside the Law"), Canada's "Incendies," Denmark's "In a Better World," Greece's "Dogtooth," Japan's "Confessions," "Biutiful" from Mexico, South Africa's "Life, Above All," Spain's "Tambien la Lluvia" ("Even the Rain"), and "Simple Simon" from Sweden.
