Lady Gaga's fans have helped raised a "monstrous" amount of money for the disaster relief efforts in Japan.

The pop singer designed special bracelets that read "We Pray for Japan" and put them up for sale online at ladygaga.com for $5 each, with the option to make an additional donation.

In just 48 hours, her devoted fans, who she lovingly calls her "monsters," raised $250,000.

Lady Gaga made the announcement via Twitter, saying simply: "It's important we help."
