Turkey flies into van, causes crash in Minn.

April 1, 2011 12:00:00 AM PDT
You may think someone is a turkey if they cause a car crash, but for one Minnesota man, a turkey really did cause the crash.

Joe Buyck was on Interstate 494 near Eagan when a turkey came crashing through his windshield. But it wasn't your average frozen Butterball. It was a live turkey - feathers and all.

"I saw the turkey start flying, and at that point, I didn't think the bird was going to hit me," Buyck said.

He soon realized the bird was going to hit him.

"I thought it was going to bounce, and then she came right through the windshield," he said.

The bird died in the crash, but Buyck was not hurt. It might have been a different story if the turkey had flown through the windshield just a couple feet closer to the driver's side.

Buyck says he's still cleaning out feathers from the van.
