The Walt Disney Company will hold a ground-breaking ceremony Friday for the long-awaited theme park and resort in Shanghai, China.

The original plans include a "Magic Kingdom-style theme park with characteristics tailored to the Shanghai region," according to Disney officials. The project is expected to cost more than $3.5 billion.

This will be Disney's sixth resort.
