California Gov. Jerry Brown is banning all non-essential travel for state employees.

The governor issued an executive order Tuesday.

This comes after Brown previously imposed a hiring freeze and cut back on state-issued cell phones and vehicles.

The moves are part of his proposal to save the state more than $400 million.
