The State Assembly passed a bill to make it a misdemeanor to carry an exposed gun, even if it's unloaded, in a public place, street or vehicle.
Gun owners say it infringes on their constitutional right to bear arms.
Police chiefs across the state are pushing the bill, saying it would increase public safety.
